Different people have different views.

If people own the same thing, they may use it in different ways. Everyone has his own way to perceive things.

Let’s think about the soil. If you look at the soil, what do you think of it? For me, soil is a good place to find small living organisms because I love to observe the little creatures in the ground.

Now let’s think about people who are of different gender/ age/ job from you. They may have different ways of viewing the soil.

1. A One-year-old baby’s way of reading the object.

2. A fashion designer’s way of reading the object.

3. A master chef’s way of reading the object.

1. A One-year-old baby

First, the child will probably touch the soil to understand what soil is. Then the child will take the soil in his hand and throw the soil up into the air to know the weight of the soil. Also, he may put it into his mouth and learn what the texture and the taste is like. Through these experiences, he will know what he can do with the soil and repeat it if he likes it. Later, maybe he will turn his attention to something other than the soil, and instead he will focus on something he finds in it, or on it. He will probably find something more interesting, for example, insects, some dead leaves, or even a flower.

2. A fashion designer

A fashion designer will remember the word “earth tone” when she sees the soil. She will try to dye a piece of cloth with the soil. Then, she may wonder what the soil consists of. She will observe the strata and the surface of the soil for patterns, and stretch her imagination and think about other planets besides the Earth, to get textile ideas from it. Also, she may think about how she can coordinate the colors and patterns on a model.

3. A master chef

A chef will be reminded of the taste and flavor of the food that is specific to a particular geographic location. For example, wine has many varieties. Each type of wine will have a totally different taste because it depends on where the grapes were grown. The chef may try to grow fresh herbs in the soil so that he can get his own carefully selected ingredients. Also, he may burn the soil to make smoked meats, or he may cook fish in a mud-oven.
